VIDEO: President Obama on LGBT Americans: ‘It’s who I am. It’s what I care about.’

The Obama Administration announced Wednesday the launch of Obama Pride: LGBT Americans for Obama, a new grassroots initiative in support of LGBT Americans.

“Gays and lesbians will have someone who will fight for equal rights for them… I’m here with you in that fight,” said Obama in his first election campaign. Today, the president continues to support LGBT Americans, explaining, “It is important for me to go ahead and affirm that same-sex couples should be able to get married… the fight for LGBT rights is consistent with that most important part of America’s character which is to constantly expand opportunity and fairness to everybody.”

The documentary-style film is narrated by Jane Lynch of Fox’s popular TV series Glee.

The announcement of LGBT Americans for Obama is shy on the heels of LGBT Pride Month which begins in June.

According to ABC News, Obama strategists will highlight the president’s accomplishments for LGBT rights including his vocal support for same-sex marriage as a part of his presidential reelection term this year. The initiative will focus on enlisting volunteers and voters in Nevada, Colorado, Michigan and Pennsylvania, according to the campaign.
