10News honors Athletes for Education with Leadership Award

Athletes for Education (AFE) President Steven Haynes has been named recipient of the 10News Leadership Award, which was bestowed posthumously during a ceremony at Sunset Elementary School Monday, May 7. The award was accepted by Haynes’ father, John Haynes.
Steven Haynes died Feb. 18 after spending many years nurturing this non-profit organization that he established in 1993. According to a statement issued by the group, Steven founded AFE with the mission of redirecting the despairing pathways of many local children. Through AFE, Haynes enlisted the participation and support of many community leaders.
