San Diego LGBT Pride weekend is one of the most popular, well known, and widely attended weekend events in San Diego.  For years San Diego’s gay epicenter, Hillcrest, has welcomed the pride parade to the neighborhood and for the first year ever, the Hillcrest community is throwing a Friday night street festival under the night sky of Hillcrest.

This festival will kick off at 6 PM at the intersection of Normal Street and University Avenue immediately following the historic Stonewall Rally. Hillcrest’s best DJ’s including DJ John Joseph,  DJ Dirty Kurty and DJ Nikno, will spin the crowd into a pride dance stupor. A rainbow inspired ferris wheel for attendees to take in the night crowds and a special entertainment guest will sprinkle the evening with color and whimsy! After parties will continue into the night at sponsored locations below.

Discounted tickets are available now: Regular Admissions $15 and VIP Admissions $50. Regular admissions tickets include event entry. VIP admissions tickets include event entry with early event access, hosted bar and food in the exclusive VIP area.

  1. i was hoping this would be more like Pink Saturday and have a price that allow everyone to attend, but i guess it’s just another way for the Hillcrest Business Assoc to make some money.

  2. There are no dates on this article. Please update with dates.

  3. Michael Brennan

This article does not mention the raising of the new pride flag… which was the main purpose for this street celebration.

  4. Better marketing if peeps show a receipt from any of the businesses in Hillcrest get in for free or steep discount. Promotes the businesses and bring out Hillcrest loyalists. Plus, you would have made more money from the concession stands and through word of mouth, ensure this event lives on.

  5. is there an age restriction?

  6. It is very unfortunate that this will cost money. WHy not an open, all-age, free event to kick off a weekend of fun, freedom, and heat? I wish we could all just celebrate as a community and not further divide by putting up damn fences, checking IDs and soaking up money. We already mostly spend our GayDough in Hillcrest. Make it fun and make it free….we are divided most of the year by income, orientation and gender norms…shake it up for once.
