Young LGBT activists to protest Chick-Fil-A opening in Laguna HillsBreaking News, Top Highlights Tuesday, July 24th, 2012
A group of LGBT youth leaders between the ages of 14 and 26 at Youth Empowered to Act (YETA) will protest the grand opening of a new Chick-Fil-A restaurant in Laguna Hills, California on July 26. According to GLAAD, the youth will be holding signs and handing out informational flyers during the grand opening starting at 6 A.M in order to notify potential customers of the company’s anti-equality politics.
The protest comes following an announcement by CEO Dan Cathy who said he is against marriage equality. When asked in an interview by the Baptist Press whether he opposed same-sex marriage, he replied, “guilty as charged.”
Prior to Cathy revealing his suspected stance on gay marriage, Chick-Fil-A had donated a reported $2 million to anti-gay groups.
More information on the protest can be found on the official YETA Facebook page.
