American Family Association’s Bryan Fischer, who hosts a radio talk show called “Focal Point,” agrees absolutely with Republican congressman, Todd Akin from Missouri that it is almost impossible for women to become pregnant from so-called “legitimate rape” (a term Akin has since apologized for using).

According to Fischer, a woman’s body somehow doesn’t function the same way during rape as it does when insemination happens outside of rape. Fischer did not reveal any special medical training that might be informing his radical assertion.

“There’s a very delicate and complex mix of hormones that take place — that are released — in a woman’s body, and if that gets interfered with, it may make it impossible for her or difficult in that particular circumstance to conceive a child,” Fischer told his radio audience yesterday.

“There’s a very delicate and complex mix of hormones that take place — that are released — in a woman’s body, and if that gets interfered with, it may make it impossible for her or difficult in that particular circumstance to conceive a child,” Fischer said during his show Monday. ”That’s all Todd Akin is saying…and he’s absolutely right about that.”

Rep. Akins has been all but abandoned by the Republican Party in his attempt to unseat Sen. Claire McCaskill, who is in a three-way race with Akins and

“If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down. But let’s assume maybe that didn’t work or something. I think there should be some punishment, but the punishment ought to be on the rapist.”
