Joe Biden

The vice president of the United States has gone to the New England’s LGBT Mecca and told attendees of a speech during a fundraising event at Pilgrim Monument and Museum in Provincetown, Mass. that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Americans are “freeing the soul of the American people.”

One observer said Vice President Joe Biden had the the audience swooning and writing checks with equal vigor.  Those checks ranged from $250 for a seat to $25,000 at the top end. According to a local newspaper, the latter ticket price included a photo opportunity with the veep.

According to reports, Biden was “on his game” as he landed applause line after applause line with sweeping statements about, as he sees it, the “straight community” being cobeneficiaries of the LGBT community‘s struggle for equality.

“If I had to use one adjective to describe this community it’d be courage. You have summoned the courage to speak out, to come out,” Biden said, according to the Cape Cod Times. “We owe you.”

The Boston Herald reports Biden as having told the “P-Town” crowd that President Barack Obama, ” … is determined to change the trajectory of this country.”

“They have slowed our progress,” said Biden about Congressional GOPers.  ”… but they have not stopped it.”
