The San Diego Multicultural LGBT Literary Foundation celebrates Pride month by making all their selected LGBT books 25% offAround the City, Online Only, Top Highlights Tuesday, June 11th, 2013
To celebrate Pride month, the San Diego LGBT Literary Foundation are offering a discount of 25 percent off all new LGBT titles that the multicultural LGBT book club has read or supported. These titles include, Chulito by Charles Rice-González, Gulf Dreams by Emma Pérez, For Colored Boys by Keith Boykin, The Color Purple by Alice Walker, Funny Boy by Shyam Selvadurai, The Woman Who Owned the Shadows by Paula Gunn Allen, Butterfly Boy by Rigoberto González, Zami by Audre Lorde, We the Animals by Justin Torres, Christlike by Emanuel Xavier and Irresistible Revolution by Urvashi Vaid.
Announcing the discount the Foundation issued the following statement in a press release,
“A proud people is a people who know who they are, who know their heritage. One way that we learn our heritage is through the stories we tell, the experiences we record. At the San Diego LGBT Literary Foundation we believe in the fundamental importance of literature for our community’s health and culture. When you go to an independent bookstore and buy a new book by an LGBT author you are committing a political act. You are saying that their words are worth hearing that you will not stand idly by while your community’s literature goes out of print and your community’s book stores and presses shutter their doors. In the same way that as a community we have become excellent boycotters, it is time that we commit to consumer activism.”
These books are available at Bluestocking Books, 3817 Fifth Ave., in San Diego. For more information visit bluestockingbooks.com or call 619-296-1424.
