Pride Health Challenge: Ildifonso’s journeyEntertainment News, Online Only, Section 4A, Top Highlights Tuesday, July 7th, 2015
The Pride Health Challenge contestants have been transforming their lifestyle. As we approach Pride, Metabolic Direct and LGBT Weekly wanted to highlight each contestant’s journey. Below is the third Pride Health Challenge story. Here is Ildifonso’s journey:
My journey has not been that unique. In fact, if you are reading this piece, it is probably because you have found some similarities with me or are interested in living healthier as well. At first it began as a quick fix solution to look good for Pride 2015 but it quickly became about me and making the necessary adjustments to my behavior in order to achieve my goals even after Pride. I have lost 20 pounds so far and am only 2 pounds away from my goal weight for Pride but now that I have come this far, I am more interested in truly going all the way and dropping the 20 additional pounds to finally be where I am supposed to be as recommended by my medical doctor. My Metabolic Direct Coach, Vincent, has taught me to stay on track regardless of what happens in my life. Having him provide the constant encouragement has helped me overcome the self- sabotage thoughts and behaviors that have kept me from getting this far before in my weight loss journey. I have learned how to plan my meals to succeed. I have also learned to react appropriately to set backs by getting right back on track and remaining focused on my overall long term goal of weight loss. I have learned what to order at restaurants and how to navigate unexpected changes in meal plans, family events and going out with friends. This journey has ultimately taught me how to manage my life and all that it entails while continuing along this diet. This has been one life changing experience that I would recommend to anyone who is tired of being overweight and finally ready to do something permanent about it. Getting this far in my journey has helped transform the way I see myself. I now see myself as a healthy runner who looks forward to making the right eating choices.
