Transgender NYC subway slasher was provoked says friend (VIDEO)

A transgender woman who slashed two men with a box cutter on a New York City subway train was arraigned on assault charges Wednesday. A friend of the woman said that she was provoked with anti-gay slurs.

“The other guy spit on her and called her a fa—t,” Kimball (Kimy) Hartman told reporters after her friend Merci Chrisette was arraigned in Brooklyn Criminal Court, reported the New York Daily News.

Victor Ramirez was on a southbound A train with a co-worker on Dec. 18 when he accidentally touched Chrisette as he tried to hold on to the pole

“Chrisette told the complainant, ‘I like to pick on people like you because you’re not going to do anything,’ ” prosecutor Wilfredo Cotto said in court Wednesday.

If convicted, Chrisette faces up to four years in prison for attempted assault charges. Her bail was set at $20,000.

  1. Is Chrisette’s sister for real? The video doesn’t bear her out.
