Public vigil in memory of Will Walters to be held today, 2 p.m.Around the City, Online Only, Top Highlights Saturday, December 31st, 2016
SAN DIEGO — A Public Candle and Flower Vigil in Memory of Will Walters will be held today at 2 p.m at the Pride flag located at the corner of University Avenue and Normal Street in the heart of San Diego’s historic LGBTQ Hillcrest neighborhood.
There will be remarks and remembrances from community members, colleagues and close friends of Will Walters, followed by a moment of silence and a walk in quiet reflection to honor the 14th Amendment right to equal protection under the law. The march will go from the Pride flag to close to Walters’ apartment near the Hillcrest sign.

City Commissioner Nicole Murray Ramirez friend to Mr. Walters, longtime LGBTQ-rights activist
Chris Morris, friend to Mr. Walters and his attorney
Alexis De Bram, longtime friend to Mr. Walters, San Diego activist
Thom Senzee, friend to Mr. Walters, freelance journalist, media adviser to Mr. Walters
Rev. Dan Koeshall, friend to Mr. Walters, pastor at MCC Church of San Diego
Mark Olsen, friend to Mr. Walters, San Diego LGBTQ community member
Will Walters, had sued the San Diego Police Department (SDPD) for discrimination when he was arrested for wearing a short kilt-like costume at the LGBT Pride festival in 2011. He was found dead Wednesday at his apartment in Hillcrest in an apparent suicide.
