SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Volunteers are being sought for the 28th annual AIDS Walk & Run San Diego, which will take place on Saturday, Sept. 30.
Each year, approximately 500 dedicated volunteers help make AIDS Walk happen, from assisting with office work, phone banks, outreach, event set up and tear down, registration and more.
“Volunteers are the heart of AIDS Walk & Run San Diego,” said Cheli Mohamed, director of Volunteer Services and Community Leadership Development for The San Diego LGBT Community Center. The Center produces AIDS Walk & Run San Diego, the County’s largest HIV/AIDS fundraiser.
“We need volunteers in all areas – from advance organizing, event set up and day-of-event activities,” Mohamed said. “No experience is necessary, you’ll meet some great people and I promise you’ll feel good about supporting AIDS Walk. Please sign up to join us today!”
In addition to the funds raised for local HIV services and prevention programs, the event is also a way to increase public awareness of the current state of HIV, to show support for the 18,755 San Diegans living with HIV and to remember those we’ve lost.
