San Diego LGBT Community Center announces unprecedented $2 million match opportunityBreaking News, Section 4A, Top Highlights Monday, October 23rd, 2017
Thanks to the generosity of Ron Bowman, with his husband Stan Zukowfsky, all donations to The Center during the organization’s end-of-year fundraising campaign will be matched at a 4:1 ratio. That means for every $1 donated, they will match with an additional $4. In this way the $1 becomes $5 for The Center. For example, if a donor contributes $50, that $50 gift will earn a $200 match, yielding a $250 total for The Center. Donating $100 will earn a $400 match, yielding a $500 total for The Center…and so on.
Every gift to The Center, up to $400,000, on or before Dec. 31, 2017, Mr. Bowman and Mr. Zukowfsky will match – adding an additional $1.6 million dollars to the fundraising efforts. This would be a total of $2 million dollars in support for The Center’s programs and services.
“We are deeply grateful to Ron Bowman and Stan Zukowfsky for providing this extraordinarily generous offer to The Center,” said Dr. Delores A. Jacobs, chief executive officer for The Center. “This is the single largest matching gift opportunity The Center has ever received. Two million dollars will certainly make a tremendous difference as The Center continues to strive to serve our diverse LGBT community. With that in mind, we intend to do all we can to fully meet this challenge.”
“We have until December 31st to maximize this opportunity, and we encourage everyone to give as generously as they are able,” said Caroline Dessert, chief development and community engagement officer at The Center. “We are deeply appreciative of our community’s support, and we look forward to accomplishing this goal together and strengthening The Center’s life-changing and life-saving programs.”
The Center invites everyone to support this #2million match opportunity. Gifts can be made online at thecentersd.org/2million. Donations can also be mailed to The Center at P.O. Box 3357, San Diego, CA 92163.
