The unprecedented $2 million campaign was unveiled in late October at The Center’s 45th anniversary gala. Generously offered by Ron Bowman and his husband Stan Zukowfsky, the challenge grant provided a 4:1 match, up to $1.6 million dollars. The Center raised more than $400,000 between Oct. 21 and Dec. 31, 2017, earning the full match and raising more than $2 million for The Center’s vital programs and services.
“San Diego is a fantastic community and we were glad to be able to help by setting the bar high so The Center could make this historic fundraising goal of $2,000,000,” said donors Ron Bowman and Stan Zukowfsky.
“This was the single largest matching gift opportunity in Center history, and we cannot thank Ron Bowman and Stan Zukowfsky enough for their incredibly generous contribution to The Center,” said Dr. Delores A. Jacobs, chief executive officer for The Center. “Their gift was extraordinary, and so was our community’s response to this opportunity. Their collective contributions will help strengthen the future of The Center for years to come.”
“We are so grateful to, and inspired by, our community’s generosity,” said Caroline Dessert, chief development and community engagement officer at The Center. “To not only have been able to reach this goal, but to exceed it, is just phenomenal. Our longtime donors were there for us, with more than 1,800 contributors, and more than 500 people gave to The Center for the first time as part of this campaign. We are truly appreciative of every gift!”
